FAQ - Frequently asked questions on Jehovah's Witnesses
-Are Jehovah's Witnesses a cult or a religion?
In fact, there is no consensus on the definitions given to the words "cult" or "religion".
But there is a consensus that the Jehovah's Witnesses organization is guilty of many cultic deviances.
-Do Jehovah's Witnesses shun
ex-Jehovah's Witnesses?
Yes. A Jehovah's Witness who has been disfellowshipped or who has voluntarily disassociated himself (or was
forced to) is shunned by the other Witnesses who have no right to speak to him or to attend him, except in certain specific circumstances.
This includes family members and friends. The goal is to psychologically break those who disobeyed and scare those who might be tempted
to do the same.
-Do Jehovah's Witnesses hold "the truth"?
The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society has always declared owning and teaching
"the truth". However, it has regularly changed its doctrines through time, thus denying the "truths" of the past. Anyway, most of
its doctrines are based on its altered version of the bible which is not inspired by god, but inspired by the ignorance and folly
of some men.
-Does being a Jehovah's Witness protect against being trapped into drugs and tobacco?
You don't have to be a Jehovah's
Witness to be drug free. Many people in the outside world do not use drugs or smoke.
-Does being a Jehovah's Witness make us good
people with high moral values?
You don't have to be a Jehovah's Witness to be good people with high moral standards. Many people in
the outside world are good people with high moral values.
